For Waikato planners

Drafting for planners working across the Waikato.

Dendra holds the district and city plans of ten councils in the Waikato region, built from official council sources. Forward a brief for a site in any of them and a draft Google Doc comes back for you to check and refine.

  • Hamilton City, Waikato District, Waipā, Taupō and six more councils
  • Site lookups from the LINZ parcel and each council's public map service, where one exists
  • Plan changes and appeals flagged, so drafts do not present them as operative

Council by council

What Dendra holds for each Waikato council.

  • District and city plans

    • Hamilton City. Operative district plan chapters and plan change decisions. PC 14 decisions are held but flagged as not operative. Zone from the council's map service.
    • Waikato District. The operative in part district plan from the council's ePlan, with appeals flagged. Zone and hazard, heritage and other layers from the council's map service.
    • Waipā District. The latest complete council copy of each plan section. Some recent plan changes are not included yet, and drafts flag this.
    • Thames-Coromandel District. The operative in part district plan, with appeals flagged. Zone from the council's map service.
    • Taupō District. The operative district plan, with pending plan changes held separately as not operative. The planning maps are not held, so the zone comes from the council's map service and drafts say so.
  • More Waikato councils

    • Matamata-Piako District. The district plan from the council's ePlan, with recent and proposed plan changes flagged.
    • South Waikato District. The council's online district plan, with proposed Plan Change 4 flagged.
    • Ōtorohanga District. The Operative District Plan 2014. The plan uses Effects Areas rather than zones, and site lookups read them.
    • Hauraki District. District plan text. The council does not publish a zoning map service, so drafts flag the zone for you to confirm.
    • Waitomo District. The Proposed District Plan appeals version, and the 2009 operative plan where rules are under appeal. No zoning map service, so drafts flag the zone for you to confirm.
  • National instruments

The Resource Management Act, the National Planning Standards, the NES for contaminated soil (with the HAIL list) and the NES for freshwater. RMA amendments that are not yet in force are flagged.

  • Not held yet

Regional plans, including the Waikato Regional Plan, are not in Dendra's library yet. Where a draft touches regional rules, it marks them for you to check. All coverage

Questions

What planners ask us.

Which Waikato councils does Dendra cover?

Hamilton City, Waikato District, Waipā, Thames-Coromandel, Hauraki, Matamata-Piako, Ōtorohanga, South Waikato, Taupō and Waitomo district plans, built from official council sources.

Does Dendra include the Waikato Regional Plan?

Not yet. Regional plans are not in Dendra's library. Where a draft touches regional rules, it marks them for you to check.

How does Dendra handle plan changes and appeals?

Plan changes, appeals and provisions that are not yet operative are held separately and flagged. They are listed among the things to check, so a draft does not present them as operative.

What if a council has no zoning map service?

Hauraki and Waitomo do not publish one. For sites there, the draft flags the zone for you to confirm instead of guessing.
